Organised by the Chinese Manufacturers’ Association of Hong Kong (CMA), the 6th Hong Kong Brands and Products Shopping Festival kicked off its four-day run today (26 June) at AsiaWorld-Expo. In line with the CMA’s “Exhibition Plus” initiative, this year’s expo introduces sports elements for the first time and partners with an online shopping platform to extend exclusive offers beyond the phycial venue. By blending premium global merchandise, curated culinary delights, fine wines, enticing rewards, and live entertainment, the event delivers a vibrant summer experience for both local residents and visitors.
This morning’s opening ceremony was graced by the presence of distinguished officiating guests, including Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development Mr Algernon Yau, Chairman of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council Professor Frederick Ma, and Director-General of Trade and Industry Mr Aaron Liu, and representatives of supporting organisations.
They were joined by CMA office-bearers, including President Dr Wingco Lo; Vice President and Chairman of the CMA Exhibition Services Limited Mr Ivan Sze, Permanent Honorary President Dr Allen Shi, CMA Legislative Council Representative the Hon Jimmy Ng, Executive Vice President Dr Warren Ma, Vice Presidents Professor Simon Wong, Mr Dennis Ng Kwok On, Mr Jackson Leung, Mr Calvin Chan, Mr Robert Lok, the Hon Albert Chuang, Dr Ellis Wong, and Chief Executive Ms Ida Ng.
This year’s expo features nine themed zones, offering visitors a diverse array of exceptional, value-for-money choices. Nearly 100 selected items are available at massive discounts, with some slashed up to 90% or priced as low as HK$1.
In his opening address, CMA President Dr Wingco Lo noted that Hong Kong’s retail market continues its upward trajectory. He emphasised that beyond favourable macroeconomic conditions, the growth also reflects businesses’ proactive efforts to adapt to evolving consumer preferences by enhancing customer experience and product value. “To create a truly immersive retail environment, we have introduced a new Trendy Sports Zone, transforming the expo into a high-energy arena,” Dr Lo said. “By integrating cutting-edge tech elements, an upgraded culinary line-up, and exclusive privileges, we aim to deliver a refreshing, multifaceted experience for all visitors.”
Following the opening ceremony, the Trendy Sports Zone launched with a star-studded pickleball tournament. The exciting event brought together Legislative Council Member Ms Joephy Chan and Secretary-General of the Business and Professionals Alliance for Hong Kong Mr Benson Luk, along with representatives from the Police Pickleball Club, the Southern District Council, and the CMA. A line-up of celebrities, including Mr Eddie Pang, Mr Brian Tse Tung Man, and Ms Vici Chong, also took to the court.
To encourage public participation, professional coaches are on site to provide free guidance and introductory pickleball training. Members of the public can also enjoy open court sessions to experience the appeal of this fast-growing sport firsthand.
Another highlight this year is the debut of the Southeast Asian Food Zone, featuring authentic flavours from Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia and beyond. The expo’s three dedicated catering areas – the Yummy Food Zone, Chillax Zone, and Southeast Asian Food Zone – offer daily limited-time items at half price or below after 2pm. To top it off, the Chillax Zone gives away 30 glasses of red and white wine at 3pm daily. Available on a first-come, first-served basis, these promotions offer visitors an incredibly high-value gastronomic experience.
Mr Ivan Sze, Vice President of the CMA and Chairman of CMA Exhibition Services Limited, highlighted that the expo offers far more than just retail surprises and culinary delights. “Visitors can also look forward to an incredible visual and auditory feast,” Mr Sze said. “Artistes and singers are set to perform live and engage audiences with interactive games. Together with various stage performances, workshops, busking competitions, and lucky draws featuring over HK$400,000 in prizes, the event promises an unforgettable experience for all ages.”
Catering to evolving consumer preferences, this year’s expo marks its first-ever collaboration with the e-commerce platform Wasabi Mall. Celebrities will host live-streamed sessions to showcase over 100 limited-time items. To drive online traffic to the physical event, exclusive perks are available, including free delivery, extra discounts, and complimentary admission tickets for customers who meet designated spending thresholds.
The expo will be open from 10:30am to 7pm daily (the expo will close at 5:30 pm on 29 June). The admission fee is HK$10 with free admission for children under 1 metre in height, seniors aged 65 or above, and persons with disabilities. Complimentary admission will be also offered to tourists who present valid travel documents. Special transportation arrangements will be available during the expo to facilitate easy access for visitors from various districts.
